## 1. What a cookie is

A cookie is a small file a website asks your browser to store and send back on every later request. Cookies are how most sites recognise a returning visitor, keep you signed in, or follow you between sites to build an advertising profile.

Local storage is a different mechanism. It also stores data in your browser, but it is never attached to requests — the site can only read it by asking, in code, on a page you already have open. It cannot be used to track you across other websites.

That is the complete list. **No cookies are set by this site**, and nothing is written until you actually answer the banner. If you ignore it, nothing is stored.

The record contains your choice (accepted or rejected), which categories it covers, and the date you made it. It contains no identifier, and it is never sent to us or to anyone else.

## 3. Why there is a banner at all

Honestly: it is not currently required. Consent under Article 5(3) of the ePrivacy Directive is needed for storage that is not strictly necessary, and we have none. We could omit the banner entirely and still comply.

We ship it anyway as a working consent gate. If we ever add analytics, the mechanism that asks you first is already built and already respected by the code — rather than being retrofitted afterwards, which is how sites end up loading trackers before consent. Until that day the gate protects nothing, which is the point.

## 4. Third parties

The site loads fonts and its own assets. It does not embed advertising networks, social widgets, session recorders, heatmaps, chat widgets, or analytics of any kind.

The site is hosted on Vercel. Hosting infrastructure can set operational cookies for load balancing or security in some configurations. We do not enable any such feature, and we verify on each release that no cookie is present. If that ever changes, this table changes with it.

## 5. Changing your mind

Use the **Cookie preferences** control in the footer of any page to reopen the banner and change your answer. You can also clear site data in your browser settings, which removes the record entirely and makes the banner reappear.

Because nothing non-essential is loaded either way, changing your answer today has no effect on what runs. It only changes what would run if we added analytics later.
